Step 3

On the following page you will enter the details for the new FTP user account.  This includes the following:

FTP Username:  Enter your chosen username.  The full username will automatically include your domain name.  In the example below the full username will be myftp@mydomain.com.

Password:  Enter your password.  You can enter a custom password or have one generated for you. To view the generated password click on the "eye" icon.

FTP Account Location:  The next four options are for the FTP location. This is the location where the user will be granted access. When they FTP using this account they will automatically be placed in this location on the server. The options include Domain, Ftp, User and Custom. Each option provides a description for the related location. This example uses the Custom option so that the FTP path can be set manually.

After you have entered the above details, press the "Create" button to setup the new FTP user account.

*Server Paths for Custom FTP Option

Your account directory is located within the "home" directory on the server and is named according to your DirectAdmin username.  In this example the account directory is named "myuser". Within the "myuser" directory the "domains" directory holds the individual domains that are being hosted. Additionally, within each of the "domains" directories a "public_html" directory holds the publicly available website files for that particular domain. Using the domain and username for this example, the Custom FTP option would be:

/home/myuser/domains/mydomain.com/public_html

(*Replace myuser and mydomain.com with your information.)

Step 4

After the account is created you are returned to the previous screen.  There you will be able to view the new account in the FTP accounts list. Through this page you have the ability to Suspend accounts or Change account details and passwords.

Important: Do not delete any of the default files within your User Account directory. These files are necessary for the proper functioning of your hosting account, login and e-mail services.
